History of
leader: Elizabeth May has a long
record of fighting for social rights and the environment. She is an
environmentalist, writer and a lawyer. She became the first green
party candidate to get a seat in the House of Commons in 2011. She
worked as the Executive Director of the Sierra Club from 1989 to 2006
but then stepped down to run for the leadership of the green party.
She was successful and became the Green Party leader in 2006.
Ideologies: The
green party of Canada’s main goal is to make Canada a better place
by preserving the environment. They support green energy, green
construction, a great health care, non violence, social equality and diversity and higher taxes for co-operations.
Opinion: The green party must be very proud that they have a seat in the house of commons. But I think that that is the best achievement they will get. The green party is more of a left wing party that believes in a bigger government. That is probably because they believe that a bigger government can stop people from hurting the environment. But that's the only thing they care about, the environment. It is true that the environment is our future and if we destroy it, our grand children won't have a place to live, but for our society to move forward and progress, some sacrifices have to be made. I'm not saying that I absolutely don't like the environment, I'm just saying that we don't need a green government that would choose the trees over anything else.
